I ocasionally like to comp. hunt also so I will stick with my blue dogs. But a good dog is a good dog. I had a sibereian husky who accidentially got loose and killed my lead coon once, she did very very quick and it was a sight to see. Never saw a hound that good.

Back in the day they were what they were just by how they looked. Few were registered and a great many that were out of the early registered litters never had the papers sent in because a good many hunters didn't care if they were registered or not. The casts of grade dogs in the hunts gradually faded away to what we have now. Could say you're going back to the basics.
