COMMON HERE
It was a common thing to hear of that kind of cross in the mts. of VA. where I live. I was a teenager in the 80s so I remember the old grade dog casts that used to be popular in the nite hunts[ not everybody had ukc reg. dogs back then], and this was a favorite cross, people bred what worked. Anyway 2 of the best hounds I ever walked behind were black & tan and walker crosses. You really get the best of both worlds, the nose and brains of the black & tan and the go power and speed of the walker, and this cross comes out with some beautiful colors. If you pleasure hunt it is hard to to beat this cross, I dont see the grade dog casts of the past coming back [ unless they start a hybrid registry in ukc ] so the pups of these crosses would be hard to find homes for ,especially hard to get a die hard nite hunter to try one [ but boys remember Bellars Lil Red , she got people to thinkin, redbone & walker cross ] but sometimes these crosses really work. If you decide to try it you might decide you like it. I hunt leopards now because there is no color code [breed good dog to good dog ] and you never know I might do some hybrid research in the future.
