Fixing to leave work at 2:30 and take my male dog to the vet, he has something wrong with him and I have no clue what it is.

Just got in from the vet and the word is "COONHOUND PARALYSIS"

I dont believe it, everything I've read says dogs will recover but you may have to hand feed and water them and other things of that nature. My poor boy is pityful, he doesnt move wont eat, drink or anything cant use any of his muscles and is breathing like he's ran a 400 mile marathon. I've tried to feed him and give him liquids but its like he cant swallow. I've tried putting it all the way in the back of his throat but it just comes right back up. I dont know what else to do and to top it off, I got a call from my wife while I was at the vet, she went for a follow up at the dr. and the put her in the hospital to monitor her blood pressure over nght.(shes pregnant & due march 18) They said if it doesnt get any better they will induce her! I now have to leave my dog under the supervision of someone else (while he's dying) and be with my wife and baby. When it rains it POURS!

I'm at the hospital now with my wife and just got word from my mother that Gage has passed away. This is going to be hard to get through but I know one day I'll find another good one like him. They always say....The good die young.

Sent you a pm and then noticed your thread...
so sorry to hear about what you're going through. I hope your wife and baby are well. I know Gage meant a lot to you. You spoke of him several times at breakfast the other day. He will always live in your heart. The good hounds always hold that special place where few others will go. That place is reserved just for them deep in our souls and one day when the time comes, he will be there to greet you in heaven.

In the mean time, praying for peace in your heart and health for your wife and baby. Good luck and congratulations on your new addition!

I've been trying to find an answer for the loss of my dog, I've seen some posts about lyme disease. His symptoms seemed to be close to those of this disease. The only thing I dont know, is if he had a fever, the vet never said. Do the symptoms I posted above seem like this disease may have been the culprit? Is this a disease that should have easily been detected by a vet? any info is appreciated, just trying to get some closure. thanks for reading.
