Led Vs. Garmin

I have heard that some led lights are messing up garmins,if so i would like to know about. i am interested in buying the smart light can anyone let me know the pros and cons

there is only one light that is "claimed" to have interfered with their garmin signal.

the smart light is not that light.

most led heads dont affect the signal, maybe none of them do.
it could have been something else.

anither case for "mythbusters" IMO!

I know the Pro Head and Tim's LED neither one mess with the Garmin for a fact. I have hunted with both and never saw a problem with either one of them.

From what I have heard you could hunt with them and never know it. If they use the back light instead of the head light to see the Garmin. There is no problem. From what I was told the bright light shineing on it is were the problem lies.........

i got a predator light it doesnt affect mine none,i believe this is a myth.(lol)

led

I do not have a Garmin, However my led light does cause radio interferance with my reciever. I can hear lots of static and when i turn off the light the signal is stronger and no static. Wildlife collars and Yeasu VR-500 reciever.

A big thread on this on the (other) board seems the bright eyes white lightning and the Klite g2 are the ones causing interfearance with the Garmins.

You might have misunderstood. They were telling you to turn your light off and use the back light to see the Garmin. The problem with it is the Garmin then has to find the signal again. The problem only seems to be with the Bright eyes and the K- light gl2 head. They both use the same led drop in so it makes sense. The driver is sending some sort of RF that is interfering with the receiver of the Garmin. Not every one has seen it but alot have. Turn their light on and loose signal turn it off and the signal comes back.

me either cant speak for the g-2 though my friend has a g-2 head will ask him cause he just got a garmin.

Yeah I hate anything that lets be be more efficient. It's terrible to get in a couple of extra drops every night and know where your dogs are all the time. I like adventure. Why keep them safe? I don't need to that my dog was at that tree and that he's got a puncture wound on his neck that happened sometime between when I turned him out and when he ran away from that tree that another mans gator, I mean dog was on. Yeah a garmin just takes out all interest from hunting. I really miss gettin in at 4 or 5 in the morning after riding around looking for my dogs. Or that long series of circles you walk coming back to the truck. All of this is so pleasurable I'm sure the garmin technology is just another fad.

Just for the record....I have gotten over 6 miles with a long range antenna and I will not turn my dogs loose without the Garmin on them.

How much you take for that piece of junk Garmin? It's just a passing novelty so price it right.

I am confused why you are shining a light on the Garmin. I just use the illuminating feature on the Garmin to look at the screen.

from what ive read on some of your other postes about garmins is,you have several antenas you use when they get out of range you just hook up another 1,an doesnt sound like your links up all the time either,i geuss maybe when i spend 500+ on something,i feel like i shouldnt have to buy a bunch of other antenas an crap to make it preform,but i geuss if you like all that,thats your oponion, an your money,an im not really worried about puncutre wounds by some gators,or walking in circles,i know my sense of direction,dont need some gadget to get me back to the truck,so i recon if your walking in circles to find your truck,you do need 1,what ya going to do if the battery dies,awh youve also got a pocket full of them to,

I didnt know a garmin had a alligator setting...tellin you your dog was gettin eatin up, does it show up on the garmin with his tail between his legs runnin?. lol

James - The batteries last a lot longer when you DON'T use the back light. I find it easier to turn my headlamp on than to change batteries all the time.

me too...almost always just turm my light on find the dogs and get moving dont go through batteries all the time this way.
