I have been involved with coonhunting for about 40 years now and it never ceases to amaze me as to the amount of malicious gossip that is generated. Just this past November, here in Central New York two of our hounds were stolen, and had the batteries taken out of their Marshall collars, and then let loose to fend for themselves. It took us 19 days to get one of them back, found with their trackers on minus batteries. It was an agonizing, gut wrenching three weeks looking for, following leads, and getting these dogs back.
Then I hear through the grapevine that some scumbag spread the rumor that the reason the dogs were lost was because that I was so drunk on the night that we were hunting that I forgot to put the trackers on the dogs, and that the trackers were home on my kitchen table. I was kind of curious about that, because both dogs were found with tracking collars on, minus batteries, by local citizens. So did I go and catch the dogs and put the collars on them and then let them go again? Why do people start this kind of garbage?
