Smitty I had a pup diagnosed with Rocky Mountain back in late September, early November. He was VERY sick for several days, wouldn't eat, drink, or move much. All I could do was give him his meds and keep him as comfortable as possible. Mine didn't have trouble moving his legs though...the pads of his paws were weepy and oozing, and he licked at them constantly. His legs and feet were swollen terribly, and his skin was VERY pink where you could see it under his belly and legs. By the end of week he had improved a great deal though, and I'm thankful he has recovered fully. My best advice would be to finish ALL his meds, even if he seems to be better, and to water him with a syringe if need be to keep him hyrdated. Out of curiosity, does your dog have similar symptoms to the ones I described above? I've never really bought into the fact that my dog had Rocky Mountain because number 1, he is mostly an inside dog and number 2, I had another male's paws and legs swell and weep around the same time and the common factor was a different type of food I'd only fed those two. Good luck....

Blaise Bauer had Kansas Stender diagnosed with the same thing. She went through the treatment for it (doxycycline) and she showed some improvement. A couple of months later she relapsed. Another vet did some more intensive testing and Stender was diagnosed with (someone is going to have to help me out because I'm having a brain freeze right now...) the disease from being exposed to bad stagnant or swamp water. I believe it is the same thing that killed Clair Chenoweth's dog that was leading the Purina race. I'm sure someone can come on here and give you the correct name for it.
