just a hypothetical question

Say you have an accidental breeding of two dogs of the same breed. But you intended to breed said two dogs a little bit further down the road. Would you roll with it? or Would you opt to cull the litter?

Just got to thinkin about it the other day.

I'm hunting a a dog right now that made NtCh at 20 months old. He wasn't put in the woods until he was almost 15 months old......from an accidental cross. A littermate male made NtCh at 10 months old.

I just raised a litter from an unplanned breeding. They are some very nice, well bred pups and will be registered and preformanced. I gave three to teenagers, kept one, and sold two.

How old and what shape is the gyp in? Have you figured out what a litter of pups cost by the time you get rid of them? Do you have an outlett for the pups?

Had this happen recently (see my post coon/bear pups on the blue sight). I was unsure what to do, then started hearing way to many stories about great dogs that had come from "accidental" breedings. Lets face it , it's all about how the pups get raised and hunted. I've seen high $ pups get left untouched on a chain till 8 months old, only to have the owner complain then when the pup won't run and tree it's first time out.

If she is better than your male. What are you going to breed her to? If she is old enough and you are ready for a yard full of pups I don't know why you are asking some one else. Everyone says go for it but you are the only one that knows if you are ready to deal with a litter or not. I am ready to pull my hair out by the time I get rid of a litter. That is why I don't like females but I have one now. LOL allso have a good pen nothing can get in or out of. ( :
