Opinions on squirrel movement?

What do you gents think. Do squirrels move more early in the morning or in the later part of the afternoon or does it just depend on the day? What has been you squirrel hunters awareness on the subject? Thanks, FullCry

I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY MOVE MORE IN THE EVENING. I HUNT MORNINGS BECAUSE I CAN SEE BETTER.LOL I'VE SEEN A LOT OF SQUIRRELS IN THE MORNING BECAUSE THEY MOVE ABOUT LONGER. GREY SQUIRRELS MOVE 1ST AND THEN FOX SQUIRRELS.

Here in Mi.the squirrels seem to move better in the morning. They lay up in the early afternoon then feed some late afternoon.Dogs smell a little better in the morning as there is a light dew
and generaly no breeze.

I have squirrels in the yard and I hunt every day I can. The gray squirrels move in the early morning and the fox squirrels move around noon to 2 in the afternoon. Before a front moves through or during a light rain, they could be moving any time of the day. On bitter cold weather, they don't move much.

This time of the year, I hunt in the warmest part of the day and hope they are moving. They are rutting now, so they are moving more.

Thanks

I have a young dog now but back in the eighties I had a cracker jack coon and squirrel dog. I gave up the coon hunting and just hunted squirrel with her though she might tree a coon every once in a while in the morning. She was a 35 lb Treeing Walker. I found back then that they moved best in a drizzle rain and I hunted then every chance I had. I had fair luck in the morning but sometimes real good luck.In the afternoon was the best hunting for me then. I don't mean to sound like a know it all but was wondering how the rest of the squirrel hunters on the board felt. Thanks a lot for the input, FullCry
