Dc30 not charging?

I have the garmin astro. It came with the pos dc20. And since i have bought a dc30. The dc20 quit about 4 months after i got it. It will not charge or even come on. I've had the dc30 for about 9 months and now it has quit the blue light will come on when i put it on the charger and then will go off about 3 minutes later. Take it off and it won't turn on if you turn it on while on the charger the red lights will flash but won't stay on once off the charger? does anyone have any quick fixes or suggestions on it? i hate to send it back cause only the man up stairs knows how long it will take to get it back. I called garmin and there was a hour 45 min wait on the phone to talk to anyone. And i didn't have the time to wait.. Thanks and good luck running those ringtails up the trees and hope that your dogs don't out run them to the trees.

Take a old tooth brush and clean the charging port real good, get every piece of trash out and try it again. I really wish they would make a cover to go over that port but oh well. A simple solution to that is make sure the port is against the dogs chest, wrap it in black, or slide a piece of bicycle inter tube over it. You just want it to be clean before you charge it.

dc-30

All that crap everytime you come in from hunting !!! That is why I got rid of mine and went back to a Tracker Maxima with Quick Track collars , turn it on when you go turn it off when you come in !!!! But all joking aside you need to clean your contacts or bend the prongs a little to make contact. Sorry for the venting, but for the cost it ought to be a better setup.

They have made a small improvement on the charging points, and it will tell you how new the collars is right off the bat. If you look at the first Dc30 collars, the charging points were small dots, The new ones have a longer rectangle points, so they should connect better. The only other change that I've heard of is a better collar. That old nylon collar will soon be history.

Use a lead pencil....

I've had good luck after cleaning with a tooth brush I take a #2 lead pencil and put a thin lead coat on the contacts by scribbling on the two round contact points on the collar. Have done that a couple of times when I put it on the charger and it doesnt make contact right away. It has worked for me.

i finally got into garmin it was something in the battary. i had already cleaned it with contact cleaner and tooth brush and all that it was making good connection just wasn't chargeing. they said they would mail it out to me yesturday and when i get it mail my old one back. I was very pleased with the customer service. And trust me for me saying that is alot. Thanks to all of you that have commented. And i really like the bike tube idea. I really don't know y they couldn't have made a mini usb charger or something else it is the only thing i don't like about the system.

I filed the back edge off of the charger and I haven't had any issues with my collars charging since. I never clean them or anything.

For the problem you have. I would take the collar apart and unplug the battery for 30 seconds, plug the battery back up and charge the collar. This reboots the collar and should fix your problem.
