Need help with a question

I am new to rabbit hunting. As a matter of fact trying to get my first pack started. I have heard that frozen ground is hard for the dogs to track a rabbit. Is there any truth to this. Because I have been having a hard time getting my young dogs to run. It is puzzeling because they run them all the time in the yard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks hilljack I have been coonhunting for 24 years. Started rabbit hunting 3 years ago and love it. I got a few young dogs just don't have the money to buy any started dogs. Any advice on how to get them going would be greatly appreciated.

Feed-em rabbit tracks. You can't over feed them. If they have desire, you'll be ready to go home before they are. I have to snap my dogs to get them to leave.

In the winter it is easier to live trap rabbits. I like to trap them and get the pup started on a good hot track at the beginning of the session. Getting the pups in rabbits is the main task. With the snow on you should be able to find spots that have lots of rabbits. How old are your pups?
