Through out the past 9 years that I've kept coonhounds (or any other dogs) I've experienced those times where the dog gets a hold of and/or eats something it really shouldn't. Like those times where you think that you have the rat poison or anit-freeze locked away out of reach, but turns out you don't. Something that my grandpa taught me many years ago is something that I have always remembered. When the dog gets a hold of something it shouldn't and eats it, all you have to do is get some hydrogen peroxide and a sirenge with no needle (or if the sirenge has a needle, just take it off). Fill the sirenge with 20 milimeters of the hydrogen peroxide. Make the dog take it. Some dogs take it without fight, but more than likely it will take 2 people, one to hold the dog down and one to give it the hydrogen peroxide. After a few minutes, the dog will eventually throw up whatever it had eaten. You just have to make sure that when it does throw up you shovel it away from the dog, and that it gets some water, but wait about 5 or 10 minutes before feeding it. This is just a helpful hint that I have found useful time and time again, and just thought I would share it. Hopefully you won't have to remember it, though :P

We had a house dog that ate a whole bag of Hersheys Kisses. We used the peroxide and a turkey baster. It worked great and saved us a trip to the vet.

The other thing that works (and quickly!) with less fighting from the dog is table salt - 1/2 teaspoon for a small dog, 1 teaspoon for a big dog - just open their mouth and drop it into the back of their throat - you're done before they realize what's going on, and then it's too late!

Never used it for this reason but human hair will make them puke in just a couple minutes too. I have to keep my dogs out of it in the barber shop.
Now the antifreeze thing I don't know so much about. My vet said give them the highest proof wisky you can get as fast as you can get it in them and then get them to the vet. Everclear if possible I use to keep some on hand. They say it will thin it and keep it from pluging the liver or something like that.
