Unless I'm mistaken

Most of the money taken in at the hunts pretty much goes to the club sponsoring the hunt. And from what I understand,it ain't real easy for a lot of these clubs to keep their heads above water.I mean these clubs have insurance to pay I'm sureand usually rent the buildings in which they hold the hunts out of.

Uncle Ray, UKC does have a format that pays 55% of the entry fees back to the winners. Slam Events. All cast winners with plus points get their entry fee back. Further, the top four cast winners with plus points are eligible to hunt it off for a bigger portion of the prize money or they may opt to split. In addition, any dog in the Final Four recieves a 1st Place win. All dogs, regardless of category, are drawn out together.

Example:

Registered dog(s) = 1st place & 40 Championship points

Nite Champion dog(s) = 1st place win towards Grand

Grand Nite Champion dog(s) = Grand Nite CH win

Clubs have two entry fees to choose from - $20 or $30. Anything higher than that would need be approved by UKC. For instance the Deep South Coonhunters in Georgia will have a Slam Event on Thursday night befoe the Winter Classic where the entry fee will be $50.
