I think Michigan still has the highest unemployment rate in the nation. Luckily all of our family members who want to work have relatively good jobs still.

If you drive through the city of Flint or any of the surrounding towns there are vacant houses everwhere. In fact, we have 2 vacant houses out of 12 houses within a 100 yards of our house.

The only sector of the economy that is doing well right now is the government employees or those that are benefiting from government contracts.

Josh,

Higher education is doing well despite government cuts. In bad economic times people go back to school. I know in our area enrollments are up at all the local colleges.

Here in Hunstville, AL, our city made the Kiplinger’s Personal Finance #1 city in the U.S. for 2009.

A year ago (November) Forbes Magazine ranked our county (Madison County) the country’s best place to live to weather the economy.

So, this area has been lucky concerning jobs.....where the housing market has been hit hard, it's still viable here ---- property taxes still rising yearly here because of that fact.

Larry,

It seems the same is true here, but what good is more education if there are no jobs to be had?

Again, the only good jobs available are government jobs.

Someone has to actually create some wealth to pay the bills at some point....then again , maybe not

Those working in the health insurance industry are doing exceedingly well here. Geothermal installers are busy also.

Health care is largely subsudised by the government.

I doubt its a coincidence that there is a tax credit available for installing a geothermal system....again, governmet subsudised.

I am not talking about health care, I am talking about health insurance. My wife's boss makes about 430,000$ per day as the head of UHG. As long as we have no meaningful healthcare reform, they will stay in the money. Geothermal is subsidized, but no more than oil drilling or farming for that matter.

Don't worry...the Dems already have a "jobs" stimulus coming down the line. We're only another $500 billion away from a full economic recovery. :-)

Edited: We're only $500 billion AND a health care reform bill away from a full economic recovery.

Edited: We're only $500 billion, a health care reform bill, AND a major financial oversight reform bill away from full economic recovery.

Edited: We're only $500 billion, a health care reform bill, a major financial oversight reform bill, AND a climate change bill away from FULL ECONOMIC RECOVERY!

I work in the fast food business, We make cups and cartons for Wendy's ,Burger King and McD's. Plus do Cups for WAWA,Tim Hortons And a bunch of Mom and Pop specialty's. We are Busy as usual but we have a big sign up "not hiring and not taking applications". We just had 2 plants down the street close up in the last 6 months. A Sunoco plant and Alcoa. Just counting our blessings not bragging. I have a small landscaping Bus. that i do in the summer (14 Yards) and I'm always getting calls for more but just can't take anymore on and do a reliable job. I was Always looking for a helper and its like a joke they are either lazy or just not reliable. This year i had all kinds of people asking me for work but just figured from the past i would just keep what i can do myself and thats it. Its a tough world we live in today. I always used to hear stories about back in the day and the old up hill both ways to work/school. But i'm finally living long(36) enough to see some crazy stuff with my own eyes.... $4 plus gas, Economy(My 401k). insurance or lack thier of....Fighting a war with rules when the ones we are fighting don't have/play by rules. In only a few short years the ACLU has all but ravaged our local area of anything Christ crosses in court houses, 10 commandments and everything else that our very thoughts and beliefs were built on. The way i see it we don't stand a chance going in the direction we are headed.....I'm done for know LOL

DID YOU BUMP YOUR HEAD?I THINK YOU MUST HAVE OR GA IS ALOT DIFFERENT THAN NC..

I will agree a mexican will work and are not lazy. They will do a lot of jobs that most people won't.But they will work for nothing and i mean nothing. Where there from they get paid nothing thats why they come to the USA for work.. They pack 20 to a house so their cost of living is down here, so they can send all their money back to their families. We, us american's, have to pay their health care and have special teachers at our schools to teach these mexican's and a lot of other goverment offices. Who pays for this? We do..Far as drug problems, where is most of the drugs brought to the US come from? Go do a search i bet you will find out a lot is imported from MEXICO...Who on the streets do you see selling drugs most? blacks and mexicans.Sure there are whites as well but the others out # us by a long shot...

I am a commercial fisherman and also have a constrution company..Did you know that a mexican can go to the state department here in NC and tell them he wants 2 become a commercial fisherman and the state will set them up in business free of charge..Thats right free new boat, crab pots, eel pots, nets, and a place to live tax free for 5 years....Same as in the construction business also..I could keep on and on but to finish it off anyone who supports them being here is the person who hires them because all they see is the allmighty dollar sign in there eyes. They can save money by giving out less to the mexicans, so it makes their pockets fatter and the hell with his own kind..We, us AMERICAN'S, needs to stick together and take our Country back before its to late..

OK first of all I put this post on here to see what the job market was like in your area THATS IT!!!!

The last I checked all OUR BLOOD IS RED Yes Shiping MEXICANS to the U.S. ticks me off too but I am MARRIED to a MEXICAN so if we could stick to the subject and STOP the RACE BASHING!!!!!
I do agree that the majority of the drugs come from other races but my wife WORKS HARD 50 - 60 hrs a week for the money that is now suporting our family.
I did go back to school but left school to go back to work to suport my family now I owe thousands of dollars for the education I got so that isnt an option anymore
If I wasnt so dang old I would join the military but that day has long past me
So if the Job market is Bad let me know if its good let me know if you want to BASH a race go somewhere else
