Albert hounds?

I just wanted to hear some of the pros and cons of the Albert bred hounds. I have heard that Gene Hicks is the man to go to for them, mostly because he was the owner of them, but I just wanted to know what everyone thinks of them. Are they fast starters, slow or fast on track, and anything else you might want to add. Thanks

I use mine on bear and they are fast, have a good nose and are super-hard tree dogs. They also have a good amount of grit.

Have a grandson of Two Time Albert here. We coon hunt him, but he has treed a couple of bear at night coonhunting. One he treed solo. As a coondog he was an early starter, has a very good nose, works out an old bad feed track very well and gets the track up and running and when he does he GOES. Good track speed. Solid & accurate stay put treedog. Nothing radical. Just parks it & clicks 'em off til you get there.

I have owned other dogs with close Albert breeding. I know they are a popular strain for big-game, and my from my experiences I can understand why.
