Yesterday's Squirrel Hunt

Here is a clip of me and a buddy trying to train a couple of young dogs. Both young dogs shined at different times. My buddy was trying to kill squirrels with bird shot, it wasn't working. I ended up taking both squirrels with my 10/22. I have harvested a lot of squirrels over Pinkie, the Mt Cur female. Gypsy is a Treeing Cur out of the Boggs Creek line and treed the second squirrel. Buster is a Mt Cur. We would have missed the first squirrel but Buster saw him and then we found him. We could only hunt for an hour but got some good training in.

We are trying to go for an hour or so every day and to knock out 1-2 squirrels to the young dogs. Both young dogs are treeing well by sight, hunt hard, and are no trouble to hunt.

I am grateful I have a couple of buddies that want to go. Jason has a boy that goes with us when he can. I also hunt with Ivan when I can get him to go.

I hunted Mini and my 10 monyh old Mt Cur pup J J today. I just took one squirrel. J J is making progress but has a lot of puppy in him.
