Would you own a pup that everytime the old dog treed he would be treeing with the old dog...or one that slicks Alittle from time to time at a young age but still can be whooped and sent on????? I wouldn't even take a pup if it was gave to me but that's just me..

I rather work with one that has its own brain and desire than one that can follow an old dog around and me-too...can usually teach a dog slick tricks are bad...pretty hard to put drive into a lazy dog...but the me-tooer could be fixed too depending on its age and how far along it is....take the old dog away and make it hunt alone...seems many guys dont single their dogs out...they end up with me-too dogs in the end...

My dog rarely hunts with other dogs..when he does it is a nite hunt or once in a while i hunt with my buddy and his dog...get mine with another dog.and it brings the competition and drive out in him..he looks better than he does alone...

Id say ur right.Theres plenty of man made independent dogs now adays.Thats how they make winners now.Not my style.Id rather train one that makes the old dogs pull to it.Last two dogs I trained didnt tree slicks.

h

I'm not talking about man made slick tree dogs I'm talking about the dogs thathave so much tree bred into them that even if a coon taps a tree....BOOM..he is treed instead of working the track on and finding the right tree..

One of the reason I'm asken this is because I was given my nailor southern country rock dog back...one guy said he was mean but I have ten people that will tell you he ain't mean unless he put with a mean dog ...also guy didn't like him because he want back a dog 80% of the time if you hunt him with a dog...not man made to say just bred in him ....if he don't get first tree. He ain't treeing with that other dog ....never has slicked treed prayen for the day he does.....guy said he didn't have enough tree in him....way I look at it he has just the right amount of tree in him....sell a guy a diamond he turns its into a polished terd....lastnight took him out he holed two armadilers and after sending him on both times finaly treed with the meat....**** dog is gonna die on my yard tired of sellen good dogs and.PEOPLE makne them ****. But hey I made 750 and got the dog back so I can'. hitch that much he just ain't a tree dog he is a track dog that can tree

I wouldn't have young dog that slicks ... most young dogs are accurate until they learn they can get away with it ... a dog that slicks enough to be an issue is just not talented enough to be good at anything else either ... whether people know it or not.

I just want a dog to put a coon up a tree and tree the coon .... no such thing as too much or too little tree .... they either tree coon or they don't ... it's about the coon , not the tree .
