tracking systems

Can anyone give me some information on a good tracking that is pretty cheap and dependable. The ones that I have looked at are over 600 dollars and I just don't know if I am ready to pay that much. Thanks

how cheap . ill agree with bearhunter pretty much...usually get what you pay for... u can get a alinco djx-10 or icom r-10 scanner. work pretty good. about 300 new... can get them on ebay 150=200 sometimes .. you can buy an antenna , adv in foxhound magazines is the cheapest i know of... used to be 55 . i know where there was two good used collars for 50 each... so it is possible to get set up pretty reasonable.... to me the advantage of scanner is its very portable and it works on any collar...... u will need antenna to match collar if you go way off frequencie. in regular tracking recievers you have better gain ontrol and i think more durability... id get something.. id buy used or cheap if i had too. any tracking system is far better than nothing.... ive forgot to take magnets off or had battery go dead sometimes.. i really dont like that feeling of not being able to use tracker if i need to.. pete
