Game Warden Run in in Texas
Last night my Son, and my best friend and I went Coonhunting, we hunted in a forrestry unit, in the next County because all our areas are full of Deer Camps.
Anyhow, all went well, we had a good Race and Tree, we found our Coon and shot it out and all was jolly and well, that is until we decided to come out and go to another spot, thats when the Game Warden switched the lights on.
The Warden originally told us we were not allowed to Run hounds in the National forrest, and Then we reminded him what the rules were, and broke out the Type Two public land Map and Rule Book, he looked puzzled, and called in to his station, at the same time looked at our license. when he got off the phone with the Station he looked at us and said, "Your Good" have a nice evening. We recieved no Citations.
He was unaware that what we were doing was Perfectly Legal!! It was some Deer hunters that called in on us.
We have rights too, but if we dont stand together, and learn the rules one day our sport may become Illegal.
On our Forrestry Units, During an Open Deer Season, You cannot Hunt Fur Bearing Animals or Preditors With Dogs During Daylight Hours. At Night its Legal. You can also Hunt Squirrel and Game Birds During The Daylight Hours With Dogs.
During an Open Deer Season You are Not Allowed to Have A Shot Gun With Slugs, or Shot Larger Than #4 or a Centerfire Rifle while in the field with Dogs!!!! Thats the rules
To be technical, the White Tailed Deer and the Wild Turkey are the only Critters in our area that you cant hunt with a dog, everything else is Fair Game!!!!!
