Rob, there are two here that will whelp soon. One is Utchman bred. Right out of Jammer on top and on bottom Ranger IV bred. Very well bred bitch. Had great results off similar breeding. She will whelp Sept. 7. The second female is a daughter of Rambo II and Davis' White River Sugar. She should whelp Oct. 12. There are some in Ohio ready to ge now. Off a Grand Nite female that is Brush Creek Blue and Jet IV bred. A top female. These are all nice quality pups. Thanks for asking. Let us know if we can help you any way. Rob, I don't know of any. I just talked to my nephew that I haven't heard from in some time. He had a half sister to River, she was a grand nite. I was trying to find out about a cross he made with her and Smiley's Blue Levi long ago. He was telling me about one in Penn? I think. A male that made Grand Nite at seventeen months old. River has a male pup that a friend owns( Gary Woods ). He is sixteen months old. He lacks one win to be Dual Grand. I have kept this same bunch of plugs for twenty one years now. I have always managed to keep a coondog out of them. They do reproduce well. If you would like to talk to some others hunting them, call me. Harry, what is the breeding on River? My dad has a female that is a full sister to my Rock dog. He bred her to Jim Hinson's Ro Ho dog this time. Ro Ho is a well bred dog that is a real nice coonhound also. I guess dad bred her to him because he likes the dog in the woods and he also throws those big "chuckle headed" pups with real dark eyes. Anyway, we will breed her to something else next year, I like River and have never heard anything bad on him, but I still dont know much, so if you dont mind a few ?'s.
1.) Does he throw pretty dark pups?
2.) Does River have an above average loud mouth?
3.) Does River tree up on the wood?
4.) Does River have dark eyes?
5.) Does River Bawl on track?
Harry, I know it gets hot there like it does in Texas, does River handle the heat well? One thing I notice that I bet alot of people dont, is that you never see a young dog out of River for sale, which says folks are keeping them for good reasons! I see where there is a 16 month old that needs one win to Dual Grand! If he gets it in the next few weeks that will probably be a record on a Bluetick. That would be awesome!

Kelly, I think you will be pleased with River's pups. To try to answer some of your questions: River is dark and throws dark pups.Not all but most. Depends on the female. River does have a very good mouth. He is loud and gets louder the longer he is treed. If River doesn't have both feet on the tree when you get to it, there is one bad a$$ dog under it with him. The furthest back I have ever found him was to take his feet off the tree. It is usually a very rough female that can make him take his feet off the tree. I would rather he gave the rough ones room but he is too intense to back up. River has dark, tight eyes. Most of his pups do also so far. The pups are up on the tree type dogs also. The pups are coming with wonderful mouths. Most have a screaming bull type locate and turn to chop. River doesn't pay the weather any attention. When it is hot and you take them off a tree that they have been on for a while, most dogs go head first into the creek for water. River usually never drinks while hunting and doesn't seem to need to. If the pups are in shape they don't seem to want much water in the woods, either. As for buying a pup that is going well, when my Stalker pup got killed I looked for one. Everyone told me they would do anything to help me, but.....I wasn't getting their pup! I guess that was a compliment.

Man, he really sounds like the right kind of dog. I knew I liked his color and the way he is built from looking at your ad before. Sounds like he is one of those dogs that has one thing on his mind while hunting, and thats a coon! I really think the mental focus is what seperates a Great coondog from a pretty nice one. Lots of dogs have the ability to be great ones but the ones that are a cut above are the ones that stay focused! My Rock dog is this way also. These type of dogs seldom have bad hunts! Example... a bad hunt for this type of dog is usually you go out for a short hunt, make 2 trees and you cant find either coon, and even that doesnt happen very often. I look forward to talking to you about River. You gonna make the Fall Round-Up?

Thanks Kelly, I don't know about the Round Up. I hope to start getting the wife to make several with me. Believe me, this River dog does not walk on water. He is not perfect or do magic. But yes, he is consistent. He does operate the same most of the time and you can depend on him to do things right. But perfect he is not. Thanks, Harry.

I know none are perfect, but I like the way he sounds. I like a dog with intensity and tree power and alot of heart and desire. If they have these things i can live with some faults.

Harry,
Got a pup from Don Cagle a little while back and I am looking for something to bring along with her. Is this the Jammer female's first litter? What is her D.O.B.? I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me a 3 generation on her and River. I've got a guy down the road who can't stop talking about the River dog and the Axe dog. Thanks

Jay, yes this is the female's first litter. But I such good results on a very similar bred female that I believe these will turn out quality also. I will send you a partial copy of River's pedigree. I haven't taken the time to put Anna's pedigree on file yet. I have a bad habit of going to the woods. Just kidding. I will see what I can do for you on the female. Thanks, Harry.
