They did the same thing to Tar Rattler. They said the breeding was to much so insted of turning people away and insulting them they just raise the stud fee so he wont be bred as much. Atleast thats what they say but, what you get insted is a man that gets 3 times as much as most stud owners every time his dog is bred.

There is nothing you can do about it, if people feel it is worth it and have the money to pay those incredible fee's so be it. They can charge whatever they want when they don't really need the $$$

There are a lot of good stud dogs out there. Supply and demand will determine prices when they want to get pups out of their dogs to the hunters.

As I understand, demand on Tar Rattler went UP as the did the stud fee.......Go figure

Thats how people are, most guys wont look twice at a dog unless someone else wants it... The higher the price, the better it must be, Right?.....Sometimes, but not always.

As far as Harry and Mr. Ball go....If you dont like him or his stud fee, you dont have to breed to his dog. Its that simple.

I think..

That whether we like him or his dog or not has nothing to do with the stud fee that the man charges. He don't care what we think about him or his dog.

Would you charge a $100 for stud fee on your dog if he had accomplished and produced what Harry has? If so, you'd have people at your house 24-7 to have their dog bred to him. The SUPPLY would never meet the DEMAND like that.

The truth is, they have to raise the stud fee to make it to where the supply will slow down a little to where Harry can breed all the female that are being requested.

There are people that don't have the $$ that save it just to breed to him.

He's going to be one of those dogs that gets talked about for years. He already is.

Consider this

Harry has bred enough females that Mr. Ball and the owner's of those females already know which crosses were proven. Now his aim is to bypass the newcomers and let Harry continue to breed the "proven" crosses in his remaining years. The guys with the female half of those proven crosses won't balk for one second at the stud fee because those pups are already sold before they're born.

Hence, Harry's percentages continue to rise, rather than the population so much. Not such a bad idea, eh?

And another thing. Don't think for one instance that Mr. Ball can not privately arrange a pup deal at his leisure as well.

And another thing. He's got two other studs that need to be proven, so why not leave the fee lower to attract females to the next generation?

And another thing. It's a free country. Maybe he's just trying to keep up with the Bull Mastiff breeders.

And one more thing. You figure maybe those pups with the big price tag might find better homes where they won't be tied to the end of a chain for three years before they die of boredom?

I would just ask any of the "average guys" who might be upset because they can't afford a $1000 stud fee on Harry- did you breed to him back when his stud fee was $300?
