???

Are you saying it's too hard to load?

Push cases into the clip...pop clip into gun, jack the bolt to load one in the chamber. If you cant do that, you cant tie your shoes or blink and breathe at the same time lol.

Is yours new?...maybe it needs to be broken in a little?

get a 30 round clip. if you're a one-shot kill you'll only have to load it a time or two during hide season. if not, you can at least spray the tree with it. I bought a 10-22 a year ago with a red dot scope and it is great.

FYI

lesson i learned when i had one of these about 15yrs ago. DO NOT use this gun's butt to try to knock a coon in the head on the ground with if out of shells. the stock is make out of crappy, straight grained wood and will break if used as a club!

i've had my 10-22 since 1973 and thought i wore out 1st clip, bought another and was told to unscrew the center bolt on clip and tighten the spring a couple turns ,,it still works, but i picked up a 30 rd banana clip and added an extended release button and just wore out the 2nd scope on it last yr,,they seem to last longer when you dont let rookies bang them aganst trees,,
it's hard to say no to a newby that wants to carry the rifle,,,
i also have a ruger mark2 with lazer grips and a green/red dot shotgun scope on it with a shoulder holster,,makes it easyer getting thru the brush...

i can still make a 5" group at 65 yrds snapping off 5 shots fast as i can pull the trigger,,

my aunt did the same patteren and she never fired a 10-22 before...it has the metal but plate not the plastic like the new ones,,,i wont go hunting without a ruger,,used to carry a 38 smith also when the price of hides was up,,i liked my dogs to go home with me ,no one else...

common sence will tell you that with any gun,lol

besides if you put a scope on it ,the coon will be dead on the 1st or 2nd shot,,sometimes i double cultch the triger if i think it might be a big coon,,if not dead when it hits the ground ,the dogs will make it that way,,lol

even with open sites ,the 10-22 will drive nails if thats what you like doing.....

I knew a guy that used his .22 for a club to finish off a coon.
This saturday will be the 8th annual memorial hunt in his name
for that fatal mistake. He thought the gun was unloaded. If you think its ever safe to use a gun for a club I recomend using a slingshot from now on. I'm sure your froends and family would rather have you alive.

All I'm sayin is don't use ANY gun for a club!

doesn't the 77-22 use the same clip as the 10-22,,,or is that the 22magum version...

i recomend the clip release button be replaced on the 10-22 as it makes it easer to pop the clip out with the extened lip replacement, and get a 25 or 30 round banana clip and you'll be good for a all night hunt without reloading ...

I have two 10/22s. Both have stainless steel barrels and plastic stocks. I use 1 for coon, the other for squirrels. The stainless steel doesn't rust in the rain.
I bought extra clips but the one that came with the guns do fine. I carry my night gun in a special case built by Wicks with a sling. It is never out of the case until I am ready to shoot. I love both guns and wouldn't trade them for anything else. They work every time.

I don't have a 10/22, but i've shot them a bunch and they are nice rifles. The speed loader for the 30 round magazine is nice to have... I carry 3 magazines with me everytime i go hunting, already loaded. When i find the coon, i stick one in and put one in the chamber. Real simple. That way you're not walking around with a loaded rifle, and it takes 3 seconds to load it.

You are just saying don't use it as a club. I thought that is why we came up with guns. Don't have to use a club anymore. I have a Ruger 10/22 that I have carried for years. Laminated stock, stainless steel, with a scope. My grandkids will still be using this gun. Anyway I have never really thought about clubing a coon on the ground. I guess I might if I have ran out of bullets. I have shot several on the ground when the dog couldn't finish them. Just don't understand why you would use a gun as a club. More unloaded guns kill people than loaded ones. As far as using a bolt action, you must not have pine trees where you hunt. Hard to cut a hole deep into a pine where all you can see is flicker of an eye deep behind a bunch of limbs.
