how many give their own shots?

Taking dogs to the vet is getting super expensive and having 6 dogs doesn't help much. wondering how many of you give your dogs shots at home and where you can buy them from? Thanks

Being raised on a farm an always being around dogs. Vaccinations are just part of the routine here. We use Jeffers.

I give all but Rabies at home, counties can do Rabies for $5 here if you can wait til spring...I buy my booster shots from our local ACE hardware, TSC also sell them...but I usually go in for Rabies to the vet...I negotiated a walk-in appt with my vet, no office visit charge, just a walk in, they lead them straight back for a quick fecal check, blood check, heartworm prescription, and rabies, bring him rite back out, all that for $19 per dog....if fecal was positive for worms they would tell me so I can treat, but so far my worming program is keeping them worm free.

I give everything on my own. I buy all my vaccines at a local farm store. A 10 dose vial of Rabies is like $7.00 (a 1 yr. shot and a 3 yr. shot are the same, they come from the same vial, 1 ml IM) and a shot is around $2.50. I vaccinate my coonhounds every year for rabies, but go on the 3 rd year to a rabies clinic to have the certificate. I do all my own worming and treatment of illnesses, with my vet's approval.

we give all of our own its much cheaper, everything but rabies, the state of indiana will not allow you to give rabies, we buy our shots at local farm store Rural King, the only time we go to the vet is rabies and emergencies, we you have alot of dogs you find home remedies rather quickly

Yes, you can get the Lymes shot from Jeffers and other places like that..Not sure about the farm stores...Very possible, but not sure...The lymes shot is a little more costly, but still well worth the savings giving it yourself. Sabrina

I do all of my own vacinations except for the Rabies shot.
I like to those on record at the vetenary office.
I buy my seven in one vacinations at the feed store.

I give all my own shots and have for years. The I pick them up at the vets, he will tell you I have given more shots then he has. Be carefull buying at farm stores or shipped from some places. If it itsnt handled properly, its worse than not giving them at all at times.

Learned that lesson the hard way........twice.........a few years ago I bought puppy shots at the local farm store, lost a couple and had a huge vet bill on the others. Before that, about 25 years before that, we lost several pups and young dogs due to bad rabies vacine.

i've seen some shots at tractor supply just never really thought of doing it on my own... but i agree vet bills are out of hand, the vet i went to charged $35 for just the office visit and $70 for one exray and $30 for a 2nd exray.... to find out my dog only tore some ligaments in his foot.

We do all our own shots except for rabies. I even do my own fecal checks of course having a microscope helps.

Susie, i heard about that and i was gonna go up there but its more than a 5 hour drive for me one way which sucks!

what would be the best wormer on the market to get? and is a 7 way just as good as the 8 way? basically the same thing aren't they?
