People against Garmins

I just don't get how people make such a big deal out of the use of a Garmin. The rules are plain and simple here. Always here of how they got cheated by a Garmin or this person used this collar. Maybe they just got beat by a better dog or don't know the rules very well. I've never had a problem in a cast with people using a Garmin at all.

Some gonna cry about anything. You cant make em happy. I do believe most are for the Garmin. Even if they are not. Plenty of places to hunt where you cant use em. They find something to cry about their to though.

Will Ukc even be around much longer that you'll have to worry about it?

.

If your treeing your dog because a Garmin GPS shows it treed you are just cheating yourself.

First of all if I am in a competition hunt and there is a guy always talking and shooting the breeze, I feel I have an advantage because he sure isn't concentrating on what his dog is doing.

Same with a Garmin. Guy watching screen and concentrating on the operation of the Garmin is not paying attention to what his dog is telling him it is doing. The advantage goes to the man paying attention to the dogs barking. Sure there can be some advantages to the having the Garmin but if you have a good dog those advantages soon vanish.

Here is the deal. If you have a good dog you should win your share by calling your dog for what it is doing, without a Garmin. If you feel you need a Garmin to even the playing field then get one. If you like playing with a Garmin and use it within the rules, then do so. If you don't have a Garmin and feel you need one to win, your money would be better spent getting a better dog.. If your still loosing you will understand it is NOT the GARMIN.
Garmin advertises it make your hunting more enjoyable, they have never advertised it makes your dog or your competition's dog better. Only you can do that.

The bottom line and it is proven on here day after day. Someone ask a rules question. By the time it is answered there have been half dozen different answers. The water is so muddy I am not sure anyone understands. Guy you should worry more about learning the rules than someone with a GPS. Coon Hunts would run a lot smoother.

Majority of cast has to hear the dog before the call can be accepted. So how is that cheating if everybody hears the dog?

Bruce Conkey

Amen Bruce. If you can beat me with a Garmin, get after it. I gain more respect for Bruce Conkey, the longer I am around this game.
