culvert scoring ?

Dogs AB and C are barking and declared treed on a culvert under a road. Dog C moves from one end of the culvert across the road to the other end. Is dog C minused for moving?

We were standing on the road and she moved from one side to the other right in front of us. I was the judge and I did not minus her. But this other guy just went off on me about how she had moved and needed to be minused. I later thought I should have asked him if I did minus her if she could have been treed back in on the other end of the tube as a split tree. And since the coon was in the tube with a litter..plused 125 on her side of the tube and the other dogs plussed 125 and 75 on there end of the tube.LOL The way I saw it both ends of the tube were the same regardless if a dog moved from one end of it to the other or not.

would you minus a dog from moving from one end of a bulldoze pile to the other end? we had two guys tree there dogs in a road tube on a hunt one night, when we got there the two dogs were on opposite ends barking,, then they both went in the tube from each end and the funny part was, there was no coon between the dogs,, they got minused.....but NO i wouldn't minus a dog for going to the other end of the tube.

I don't think my hound is smart enough to know the culvert had another end to it....

The coon probably left the culvert went about his evening business and when he returned home entered from the opposite end from where he left. Two of the dogs back tracked him to the culvert, and the other dog ran him the right direction to the other end!

There was a cast a few years back that had this happen.
Dogs were treed in a culvert. One dog went in and started fighting the coon. The coon popped out the other end and up a tree. All dogs moved across the road to the tree. The cast heard and seen it all.
All dogs were minused for moving.

ONLY TAKES ONE DOG TO SHOW A HOLE... DOGS A & B STAYED THERE AND SHOWED THE HOLE WHILE DOG C MOVED AND TRYED TO FIND ANOTHER WAY IN...

SAME AS IF THEY WHERE TREED IN A BRUSH PILE AND THE DOG MOVED FROM ONE SIDE OF THE PILE TO THE OTHER!!!

I guess I would get minused. Mine knows there are 2 ends to a culvert. But then she will allso try to go to the other end of a tree ( : to get a coon too.

I agree, I dont think you would minus for that. I kind of liked the dozer pile analogy. In my opinion the entire culvert is kind of like that dozer pile, or say switching sides of a tree. Still the same place of refuge.

I wouldn't minus for moving, but I am a little concerned about two sets of tree points for the same culvert; isn't that a bit of a stretch? Tom

One thing to clear up here.

Any dog declared TREED must stay. It can't get out of it based on only one dog showing the end of track. That is for strike points only because we have a different set of rules if they are declared treed, and it tells you specifically which ones to go to.

That said, in this case the culvert was 1 culvert, no different than moving to the other side of the tree IMO.

All are good comments, A culvert is a horizontal, hollow tree. If that hollow culvert was vertical and the dogs could get to the other end which is the top, would they get minus. My thoughts they wouldn't. Place of refuge. Just a smart dog.
