pup wont grow

just recently i got a pup from autumn oaks, brought it home and it had a bout with coccidia. well i treated that and she is all good and completely worm free and i feed good dog food, i even mix a little canned dog food with it to coax her to eat more, but not to much cuz i was told over feeding does the opposite.

she just is not growing and has no fat on her at all

any suggestions??

thanks

Daniel Wilson

Dwils, albon kills everyting in the stomach. I'm no expert but supposedly the stomach holds all kinds of bacteria, good and bad. Albon kills it all. It takes awhile for the good bacteria to regenerate. I went through this twice, once with Jeff and once with that Jodie pup. Both took a good month to get back to normal. Jeff took more than a month and there is some debate as to whether or not he ever was normal.

you might check with a vet about adding some probiotics to its feed. that will help with getting the bacteria bugs in there stomach working again..

To my knowledge JiM is right, if that is the problem some Probiotics might help get things rolling a little faster

my vet says 3 small meals a day is best.

You could also add a little Cod Liver Oil on her Food,

Just how old is your Pup ?

Daniel,
Go to the drug store or Walmart and get some capsules called "Pro biotic Acidophilus". It is made by "Nature's Bounty". There are 100 capsules in the bottle and if memory serves me it is less than $5.00. Look in the vitamin and supplement section. This is a human supplement. Pro biotic is Lactobacillus. That is what promotes "good" bacteria in the stomach for proper digestion. One that has been through what your pup has, is a prime candidate for this supplement. I would give a capsule a day until the puppy is thriving again.
