I had the same question. So I emailed UKC. Here is wthe Response I got.

Thank you for your interest in United Kennel Club! UKC registration is essential if you would like to participate in HRC events.

You can go to our web-site (www.ukcdogs.com) and down load the form called "Application for a Single Registration". We would need to have you fill the applications out completely (including pedigree information) and attach a photocopy of your dog's AKC registration certificate. The fee for single registration is $28.00 per dog.

In the event that you can't download the application, please forward your mailing address and I will send it out to you in the mail. We look forward to receiving your application for review.

Thank you,

I am not 100% sure on how the pup's will work. Sorry I can't help more!

Once the Sire and Dam are UKC registered, the litter can be registered. See post above.

Sara, wouldn't the answer depend on the breed of dog?

There are now AKC registered Toy Fox Terriers that have not been registered with the UKC as well. These dogs would be unable to be registered with UKC, if I remember correctly, because there has been no single registration of TFTs allowed for quite some time. I'm guessing that other breeds would have this same restriction, as well?

The only breeds that have that restriction are the Toy Fox Terrier the American Eskimo, and the Chinook. All other breeds allow dogs from other registries or have a single registration program of which their National, along with UKC, administers.

The opinion of most dog experts is that one has more to fear from a small gene pool than letting dogs in from other registries. Still, UKC wants to be assured that the registries are reputable. We also work with our National Associations. We have allowed the three breeds to keep the stud books closed even though some of these dogs might have something to offer the breed.
