At the Lake

Took Tori to the Lake to run today and actually remembered my camera. Here are some pictures of her and the Lake.

This is the field I want my ashes scattered in when I die.

It's apparent you love that dog, and that's a good thing. There's a lot o folk that leave thier dogs chained and penned up until the owners are ready to take em to a woods just for hunting. And, sadly enough ignore the dog all other times. You can tell by the way a dog acts if he's getting a little extra attention or not by the way they responds to being touched, fed and sometimes simply spoken to, if they stand or remain seated when being approached, ect... when a dog becomes a good friend it feels great. By the way that's a good looking dog you have and a proud owner also

It won't, it is part of what they call the over flow land, if the lake floods. It is all owned by the state, so I have a good feeling that 'my field' will always be there. This is the place I go when I'm feeling sad or lonely, just the most awesome place in the world to me. I feel so close to God there and I spend a lot of time thinking and praying there. It brings me peace. And of course, happiness when I can drag one of my dogs along and watch them play.

We used to own a piece of land on the seashore of MA that had that effect on me. It was where I always wanted to have my ashes scattered. That land was eventually taken by eminent domain...by the state. My dad had turned down millions to developers...and he was pretty much robbed. Now it is a bitter place to me...and I haven't been back. Our kids have been there and LOVE it. It is a state park and gorgeous BUT... not the same to me. The GREAT awesome thing about it is that is it beautifully maintained OPEN space land! THAT I'm not bitter about!
NOW... I have my little 2 acres and I feel SO close to God as I meander around, visiting the chickens, the wild critters etc... I wish it were BIGGER land but... I'm so grateful to have "the feeling" back.
Bob and I have a place too. A place we used to sit as kids at horse camp at a frog pond. I'd talk him thru ruff times in his young boy life and we'd soak up sunshine and "frog hunt"(catch and release ) etc... When we Re met we went back there with another friend from camp-SO grateful it was not yet a house lot... Felt like we had gone full circle. I have a photo of us hugging in celebration of finding the frog pond...sitting in front of me on the TV and I love it... I can be a kid again when I see it! I had never dreamed of going back, esp. not with "little Bobby" LOL.. To think of running the hounds in there back in the 70s and talk about it.. we never imagined owning a coonhound or hunting again... and look what happened!
Funny how places effect us....
I'm glad to hear your field is safe! ENJOY it! It is indeed a Gift....
Heather
