Cash 4 Clunkers what a joke !!!!!!!!

Why do we not have an accountant in the Whitehouse? Or maybe we do. . .

Cash for Clunkers

A vehicle that gets 15 mpg and does 12,000 miles per year, uses 800 gallons of gasoline. (Government definition of a Clunker)

A vehicle that gets 25 mpg at 12,000 miles per year, uses 480 gallons a year.

So, the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.

About 700,000 vehicles were part of the Government's program, saving 224 million gallons per year.

That equates to just over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels of oil is about ¼ of one day of US consumption.

5 million barrels of oil costs about $350 million dollars at $75/bbl.

So we all contributed, through our taxes, over $3 billion... to save $350 million.

They'll probably do a great job with Health Care, though!

figure it with a gallon of fuel at 2.50 a gallon. also these saving happen every year for the life of this vehicle. yes it would take an accountant.

Lets hope those working on Health Care reform aren't as WRONG as whoever came up with this "urban myth".

There's so much wrong with that math and analysis there it's funny. Not to mention that other than just the cars and fuel savings there are several other positives that have helped the economy and environment.

Let me tell you about "cash for clunkers".
I'm no longer with Pinegar Buick G.M.C. in Branson Mo., I'm with Tri-Lakes Ford, Chrysler, Dodge,@ Jeep in Branson.
We did 37 Clunker deals, we still have about 16 we haven't got paid on.
The worst thing of all is that we took in at least 25 clunkers that would have made good transportation for someone trying to make ends meet and needing a way to work or church with their family, I'm talking air working and running good but they were old enough their emmicition systems would cause the sky to turn grey and Gore's green tree people that don't want a cloud in the sky saw a chance to push their agenda. They did it in the name "SPUR THE ECONOMY".
They could have let some organization or Church placed these vehicles to needed families, but instead we had to pore liquid class in the engine and let them run until they lock up then a salvage yard haul them off and crush them.
Now all the dealerships in our area is completely dead.
What do we expect from Obama's auto team when only 5 of 23 people on it drive vehicles made by U.S. Auto Co.

BIG JOKE!!!!!What I noticed in the dealer ads around here was the quoted price for the vehicle was MSRP.Just about anybody that ever bought a new vehicle knows no one ever pays MSRP.By the time they reduced the price ASSUMING the full 4500 allowed and a 1000 manufacturers rebate the price was EXACTLY the same as they were selling for several months ago.

This is just another way the rich get richer and the poor stay in debt . Think about it , now these people have a car loan, higher insurance ,the list goes on .The govt owns the car companies and banks , buying a new car on credit ensures the govt that at least this class of people still have to keep working, probably overtime now. Think about it is a never ending cycle .

You are right, when reality hits and these people wake up with a payment everything starts to come undone. Then the Gov. will want a bail out program to help people out of a mess they got them into.
I sold several last month and was salesperson of the mo. my first month and Tri Lakes Ford, Chrysler., but it was still stupid on the Gov. part.( We sold 139 units last mo. and 58 were new.)

With all that being said, the government owns 80% of the General Motors Corporation anyways. The math was done. But they realized they could put money in their pocket and they did it!

Well then, that 2009 tahoe I just bought was close enough for government work then. I had it for 5 days and 350 miles when I noticed the transmission slipping. Called dealer and they checked it out the next week with a total of 650 miles.

Tried to get them to swap it out for one just like it but gm would not. They kept it 10 days and had to put in a new transmission.
And they advertise a 60 day product guarantee.
