Beagle Injury

I was runing my pack the day before yesterday and Champion Hunting Beagle Champion Blank's Midnight was leading the pack like always. When catching the dogs, I noticed Midi had blood on her foot. Closer examination revealed that she nearly tore off a tit, apparently going through a fence.

Dog gone it, I was hoping to finish her as a Grand Hunting Beagle Champion this Fall. I took her to the vet and he sewed her up, we believe everything will be OK after a while. But, if I compete, I will have to run another dog. I ave a couple of others that ain't bad but I was looking forward to running Midi.

Can you not put a medical patch on her to last a day of hunting?

I wondered the same Jason.

Seriously, put a peice of tape on it and run her. A cut nipple shouldn't slow a good dog down, plus if she does lose you have an excuse.

The vet said not to run her for a few weeks. I think it is good advise. It is not serious now but could get worse in a hurry if I don't take care. I worry more about infection than anything else. She is on antibiotics. If I need them, I have other beagles but she is currently my best beagle.

I will delete the other part of my message.

I am sorry but right now, I have a thing going about some of the local beaglers that cheat on the scorecards. Maybe I will get over it, maybe I won't. I don't cheat, I just show up with a good beagle.

As for Midi, I have Dual Grand Champion Pedde and Grand Champion Hunting Beagle Champion Cricket II I can fall back on. But, Midi can beat both of them as well as most of the local beagles in honest competition.

I keep several good coon hounds and have some squirrel dogs I could coon hunt if one of my coon dogs were to come up lame, come into heat, be raising pups, or anything else. I always keep a spare.

I reckon I am lucky that I have some good dogs and the time to hunt them.

I reckon some will say,"that's Ole Redtick braggin" again." I don't think it is bragging if it's the truth.
