Dog food went up when corn and some other ingrediants spiked in price , but since the economy has crashed most things have leveled off or decreased in price. But dogfood still seems to be at all time highs.

I can attibute a couple of things to the high price;

1. More corn being used in Ethanol gas.

2. The incredibly STUPID law that prevents the slaughter of horses in most places. Old horses could have been used to make dog feed , but under new laws ,, they just go to waist. What an absolute waist of a good resourse.

I bought some Hi-pro feed at Walmart a couple of weeks ago for $21.95 per bag. I just came home from Walmart and saw the same feed was $27 per bag. What gives???

Oh , and dont hate on Walmart , its like that just about everywhere. I saw the same thing at the local feed store too.

I will just ad that in 2007 I bought a quality 26/18 feed for about $14.95 per 50lbs. Now its nearly doubled. MY SALARY HASN'T DOUBLED!

Another thing I notice alot is the new 44 lbs or 40 lbs bag.. That really ticks me off. I have refused to buy feed so far if they can't put 50 lbs in it like they always have!!

Boy , at least it feels good to vent!

We have been feeding the brown bag of Hi Standard for summer hunting, it is 22/15. The dogs are being hunted around 6 nights a week and look great. Minimal stool cleanup too....Very pleased with it....We're buying it from our area distributor, Andy Hershberger for $15.75 for a 50# bag.....Can't find much better than that....

As for your questions I don't have answers other than the dogfood companies know that people were paying the high prices desptite economic hardship and are still trying to get that price....

OUR HI STANDARD IN IND IS 19.50 A BAG DONT UNDERSTAND WHY ITS 5 BUCKS HIGHER HERE THEN IN OHIO

You guys complain WAAAAYYY to much. I wish I could get a quality feed that cheap. I feed 26/18 feed that comes in a 37.5 lb bag and I pay 39.20. A 40 lb bag of Purina Hi Pro is 52.50. So let me know when you want to trade me feed cost. I will gladly pay 22.00 dollars a bag for 50 lbs. lol. Oh and my gas is still 3.75 a gallon. I will trade that too.

Is anybody esle Pizzed about feed coming in less than 50 lbs bag? Seems like your out of feed before you get home!!!

You need a calculator to see how much the dang stuff actually cost compared to other feeds.

That is the reason i dont feed a dog for 2 years to see if it "might make it" and I have NO brood females. They make the grade or go. To expensive to take a chance. lol. I hunt an area and stay there all night. I may drive 20 miles to go but I stay with in 5 miles to hunt all night.

MY HI-STANDARD IS 17.35 AND WORTH THE MONEY......


COONDOG YOU COULD ALWAYS MOVE BACK TO OHIO THE COST OF LIVIN THERE WOULD BE CHEAPER THEN CANADA.......

I just payed $22.00 for Diamond #50 26/18 mix.And hoping to be going to PRIDE 26/18 by monday.the guy says the price will be $18.00 for a #50 bag.
