the really fun stuff, besides hunting, is just walking around and seeing all the dogs and people and hunting stuff. You can get right up and pet all the dogs youve been hearing about, If there's any particular dog you want to see, just ask around and someone will know where it is parked for the day.
There's usually a fair number of people that bring musical instruments and play in the evenings, so if you arent hunting, keep an ear out for that and bring an instrument yourself if you play.
It is really easy to get confused about show times, entry times etc When you first get to the fairgrounds, make sure you doublecheck when your class and breed are scheduled. The grounds are huge, and there are more dogs and people and clamor than its possible to imagine beforehand, so keep track of time, make sure you have enough time to get your dog ready, then make sure your dog and you dont become nervous wrecks waiting to show because everything is behind schedule.
the ice cream is good but it is not cheap. there are a lot of temptations to spend money, even if its only ice cream and t-shirts. You will be surprised at all the novel hound stuff for sale and can spend a fortune if you don't pay attention! You many not think you need a new dog box or hunting light before you go, but when you see all that STUFF--the beautiful harness leather show lead, the premium brand dog food because you forgot to bring a bag of Old Roy with you, etc--it adds up real fast!
