Yadkin Tar Rattler???

Besides Nailor what kind of dogs did he throw. Looking at a grandaughter of his to buy that is a grandaughter of Sacket Jr on her bottom side. Lets here about his offspring!

Rattler

He threw some real nice dogs. Hunted with Rattler a few times when he was four years old and he was a really nice hound real loud, pressure tree dog and not a mean hair on him. Hunted with him a few times when he was much older had lost his volume but still did a nice job. Hunted with 10 or 12 of his pups and liked most of them. Had a pup named Yadkin River Cobra that I started and sold that was a real nice pup, never trashy, good track dog and would hold pressure at seven months old. You can't go wrong with a shot of Old Rattler in my opinion.

good hounds

i have owned a couple of great grandsons to him and they have both been great hounds
I just titled my first pup out of my yadkin river female. she is out of GrNite ch Big Valley Salley (who is out of Bellars Pac Man i believe)and GrNiteCh James River Rattle Snake, the pup goes back to the Yadkin line on the topside also
they all seem to be dogs with good noses, that are very independant and all of them i have been with are stay put tree dogs under most circumstances...almost all of the pups out of my cross have had good loud mouths also

we made 5 crosses on rattler with 3 sissters monshiner's sassy 3 times, monshiner's walker 1 time , and ceder hill sandy 1 time.
these females were off lipper and ceder hill sass. sass won walker days in 88. this cross produced
grntjames river spooner hard nosed stylish coondog
grnt yadkin tar rattle shaker hard nosed coon dog
grnt james river rattle snake nice hound
grnt snowy river grizz coondog
grnt james river chip super fast but a little touchy on the tree
grnt moonshiner's sassy two good little bobcat dog coondog
grnt teddy never hunted with teddy but heard he was good
nt ch james river bud 3 0r 4 wins jesse quit the hunts said by some to be the best one in this cross.
nt ch carolina thunder made ntch in 100 plus dog hunts then quit comp hunting
nt ch montana jade cat dog in montana
ntch yad tar casey 4 wins died before finished
ntch moonshiner's bart 2or 3 wins when this dog was 18 months old he was awsome
nt ch moonshiner's marbles 3 wins never finished not sure why
nt ch moonshiner's sissy as good a coondog as there was
nt ch tar sticken ranger 4 wins randy wolenkamp told me that ranger was the best hound he had ever seen.
..... i think that is all the tittled dogs i might have missed one or two. every dog in this cross that was put in a nite hunt made nt or grnt and many of the nt ch lacked a win or two. also many of these dogs made top bear and cat dogs.
...i think the lipper females crossed best on old rattler

I have a great grandaughter to Rattler by Bill's Nitetime nailor, that could be Rattler's identical twin, though she is a female.

Who said the first 3 generation was the most important.

vernon eakins drew out with old rattler in a ntch cast way back when. vernon told me he was hunting a dog called carolina colt off houses clint and hahn's honey bell. vernon said old colt was loud, but he said rattler was so unbelievably loud you couldn't hear anything but rattler. he said when that dog was treed in the swamp it sounded like a constant roar that never stoped.
...vernon later bought a pup from me out of rattler and moonshiner's sassy that was a real nice hrd nosed coondog.his name was nt ch carolina nite thunder.

Way back in the day Rattler was crossed 2 or 3 times on a female owned by Ed Clark in Sandersville GA. Her name was Gordon Street Black Gal. I hunted with more than 1/2 dozen from these crosses that would get it done. Some were Nt. Ch., some were Grand Nite, some never went to town. They were all nice coondogs. The first cross was made when Rattler was around a year old so these dogs were almost as old as Rattler.
There was:
1)Cheif
2)Limp
3)Kate
4)Ring
5)Ringo
6)King
7)Jed

They would all tree til' you went and leashed them. They all had good to extremely good mouths. They were all mostly Black and White in color, with a little bit of light tan trim. The males were usually big dogs, with big chuckle heads. There was others from these crosses that I can't remember there names. The Wooten's in North Ga. had 1 or 2 from this cross also.

I hunted with some pups out of Rattle Shaker that suited me about as well as any Walker dogs I had seen at the time.

They would have been grandpups of Rattler.

I'm hunting a pup out of shaker, that is a pretty good dog. He's not 2 years old yet. I've hunted him with older dogs and he has run and treed coons the old dogs never knew about it. He trees pretty solid too.If he ever commits you can definitely call him treed. I've heard that his littermates are winning some hunts too.

a good friend of mine bought rattler in his prime and says that he would tree a coon and was loud, but was not in the same league with the big winners.
he did say that he seemed to produce dogs that were better than him.

LORD DONT LET DELTON HALL HEAR YOU SAY THAT. OF COURSE HE WAS AN OLD DOG WHEN HE GOT HIM. HE MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN WHAT HE WAS WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER.
