should we

help me understand, why do people mix , walker with a redbone on purpose and try to sell them for 100 or more. or any other breed. are the breeds needing to be change, or are they fine the way they are, I myself would rather have a redbone, or black and tan with out any white on it.

and why are they aloud to be single register, they are mutts, don't have nothing to do with how good they hunt, I would be mad if I bought a female to breed to my male and then when I got her papers back to only find out her mom or dad was a single reg dog, I am not trying to get a fight started, just think that we should only breed redbones to redbones, and walker to walkers, what do you all think. should we leave the breeds a long and not allowed those who do it to be single register. thanks

well if we are wanting the breed to be better than, why don't we breed them to a doberman, they can hunt by scent and eyes, smarter than any hound and faster too. when I started to train my redbone, just for kicks I got my male doberman out and he ran and treed a drag just as good, I am not going to breed them together, but I am tired of trying to find a redbone or black and tan with out any white on it. I thought I would have more comments on this.

To each his own, if a man (or woman) decides to breed their dog it's their property and their choice. In fact I believe that if someone breeds a coondog to a coondog regardless of breed they have done much better than those who breed coondog to brood dog.

As for the single registration I would rather keep that option, that way we know what was done and when, before single registration many folks switched papers and falsified stuff so they wold be registered, At least with the single registration process we can see and know what was done and the buyers of later generations can make an educated purchase.

Have you read the history of some of the hounds you love, you might be dissappointed at how "pure" these coonhounds are.

Lastly on the white, I used to not like it but now that my best 2 dogs ever have had some white I just consider it the chrome on my redbone....I have had Redbones since 1985, and have Redbooks from the 60's and 70's (My Uncles) and there was white on those dogs as well, i do not believe it is from cross breeding as much but just a trait of the breed??

Why do people do it? Have you seen the price on a Labrador/Poodle (they call them a LabraDoodle..) mix in a pet store? They're getting rediculous prices for......MUTTS.

I know, it make me sick to see all these mutts out there being sold as a pure blood. and yes I know the histories on coondogs, at one point they was bred to foxhounds, and bloodhounds. but now there is no since breeding to other breeds and trying to register them. just to say they are trying to better the breed. it is fine to do it, if you want, but don't try to register it.
