I have a pup I want to start showing that has a odd looking wrinkle in one of his ears, another pup chewed his ear when he was real young an it healed up looking wrinkled. Would this disqualify him from showing? Thanks

If the dog meets the breed standard a wrinkled ear shouldn't make any difference.

My pup had a bad ear and every day two or three times sometimes more I rubbed his ear til it softened and went back into shape . It takes a while but it is worth it .

I'd date a GUY with one ear - the whole person is what counts, not if he has a damaged ear.
And when judging dogs, you're supposed to look at the WHOLE dog as it represents the breed according to the Breed standard. A wrinkled ear is just a small part of the dog.
but WAIT - maybe the judge has a friend whose dog has both ears, beautiful color, good feet, but 140 degree shoulder angulation and moves like he has a broomstick up his rear.
Dating & judging are TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS!

You'd put a "crippled" dog with pretty ears up over a sound dog with a damaged ear that represents the breed better than the "pretty ears" dog.

If the judge is knowledgeable about function and movement then it is much more than a "beauty padgent".

Most coonhounds DO NOT run long and hard enough for bad conformation to really take effect. We have coonhounds that can not hold up to a long run. If you watch dogs running together you can see a big difference between the dogs with good conformation verses the dogs with bad conformation.

Look at deer, fox, coyote, and bear hounds if you want to see good confirmation. These dogs must run for hours on end and the ones with bad confirmation don't often get bred because they seldom rank as good dogs.

Most likely You could put a title on a dog with a funky ear if every thing else is as it should be , if You show on the local level . However ,if You had dreams of showing on the national level, I'm sorry , it just won't work.To win big shows Your dog has to be almost perfect to have a chance, so You sure don't want to start out with anything less.
