Get some Permone (sp?). I comes in a mid size spray can and is blue and gold color. You spray it onyour clothes and let it dry, DO NOT SPRAY ON YOUR SKIN! It will kill ticks as they try to walk across the clothes and will with stand several washings. I spray my hunting clothes about every two months and use bug spray with a lot of deet on my arms and neck, I seldom get ticks when hunting.

Permanone....active ingredient is permethrin. Wal-Mart was selling it here in Oklahoma but can't find it in their stores now. My wife orders it through their feed store here close. About $6 a can I think. It is bar none the best you can use. It is for treating clothing. I spray it about a foot on the tops of my waders and up to above the waist 6 or so inches. Our wildlife biologise here said they would even spray it on their skin (arms) when in Alaska because the black flies were so bad and it would sometimes cause a rash on a few people. Tested, it absorbes very little through the skin (tested levels in urin). DEET has around a 60% absorption according to a study several years ago.

If you try the diesel fuel tactic you are riding in the back of the truck and i guess being I work for the fire dept I'll push you in the creek or something when you catch on fire.
