pulling up short....

I have a two year old that has recently started pulling up short. He has been laid up the three months for work and weather reasons. Before he was laid up he was probly 70 percent accuarate. But since I have had him back oout he pulls up short. I can tell by the way he trees that he doesn't have it. If you leave him alone after a while he will get down and go on but by that time the coon has normally made it to the den tree by then. This is very aggravating. How can I bring him back around.

I normaly get to the tree and raise my voice with a switch in my hand and run him off. I dont use the switch unless he comes back to the tree.
