Registration Question

I recently aquired a dog from a couple going thru a divorce. He has AKC papers, however the ex-husband tore up the reg certificate(along with all of the house papers and car deeds!) All I recieved was his 5 generation pedigree and his shot records. I contacted the AKC to see about how to get him transfered into my name and they wanted the old owners to apply for a lost certificate then sign it over to me. I told them I would pay all the fees and and they were fine with that. That was a month ago. Now when I call or email, I am ignored. I did recieve one email stating they dont have time for "this". Messy divorce I suppose.
I want to be able to compete in obedience and possibly working competitions. Can I single register him with the pedigree I have, in my name? Even tho the AKC papers are not in my name? I do not want to nueter him and get the I.L.P. number. Thank You for your time.

You can register the dog with us even though the dog is not registered in your name with the AKC, however we REQUIRE a copy of the AKC Registration Certificate with your applicaiton. This cannot be waived.

i dont have the registration certificate, or a copy as the guy tore it up. All I have is a 5 generation report from the AKC with his name, date of birth, Reg. number, discription(blk/tan), and the breeders name. Am I just out of luck?? What can I do??

If the pedigree has the AKC seal on it, you can send that to us with the Applicaiton for Single Registration and that may work. Our Single Registration Department will review the application once it's received and make a determination.
