I have one, his name is Big Man, out of Ronnie Banes old Flame dog. Flames sire was Flatrock Coma.Flame on his bottom side was Lipper and Buffalo River Bandit. Bandit was out of McCallisters F.R.. Banjo. Bandits mother was Buffalo R. Queen out of Spring Creek Rock. Old Finley River dogs , close up. These dogs are very cold nosed and they know how to use it. Big Mans mother is Gosstt's Pine Ridge Emma. Big Man can tree a coon that most dogs never knew existed. I was told by Ronnie he believes this is were Flame got his extremely cold nose from , Buffalo River side and he did pass this down. I was also told Emma was an outstanding dog and reproducer as well. Judging from Big Mans 6 generation ped. Buffalo River is Finley River.

This strain can be given credit to the Eddings Brothers. They lived in Northwest Arkansas. They had a female called Eddings' June that was bred to Beaver Lake Lighting. Lighting's mother was Grand Nite Champion Finley River Queen owned by Ken McCurdy. Queen's father was Finley River Chief.

National Grand Nite Ch. Of Breed Grand Nite Ch. Finley River Queen

DUAL GRAND CHAMPION BEAVER LAKE LIGHTING

This cross not only produced Buffalo River Thunder but Buffalo River Queen. She was a Grand Nite Champion and was 1976 ACHA World Champion Female placing 2nd.

1976 ACHA WORLD CHAMPION FEMALE GRAND NITE CH. BUFFALO RIVER QUEEN

She was bred to Monroe's Finley River Joe and produced many fine hounds from him.

Such as Finley River Billy Joe and Buffalo River Tanner.

GRAND NITE CHAMPION BUFFALO RIVER TANNER

Buffalo River Queen was also bred to McCallister's Finley River Banjo. From this cross came many fine hounds. One Grand Champion Nite Champion Buffalo River Crickett was bred to Finley River Chief Jr. and produce Dual Grand Champion Buffalo River Ace.

A grandson of NITE CHAMPION FINLEY RIVER CHIEF

Another female from the Banjo Queen cross Dual Champion Buffalo River Sally produced Dual Champion Buffalo River Duce.

CHAMPION NITE CHAMPION BUFFALO RIVER DUCE

There was also a male out of the Banjo Queen cross that was advertised some Dual Grand Champion Buffalo River Bandit.

I would say Buffalo River Queen would have to be considered the fountainhead of the strain called Buffalo River. But as in a lot of the so called different strains you will find a big Finley River Chief influence in most of them. Hope this helps.
