Animal Planet

The more I see of this show, the less I like it. It seems that the majority of their programming involves SPCA taking away abused animals. I believe this show is about the subliminal endoctrinization of the next generation that the only people who truely care about animals and the only people who take care of them are the SPCA and no one should be allowed to own or care for any animal without the SPCA's approval.
I grew up with Captain Kangaroo. Kids today grow up with Animal Planet. What are these kids going to be thinking and voting 10 years down the road when issues involveing hunting, working dogs, farming, etc come up?

I refuse to watch anything on AP, nor would I allow my niece or nephews to watch( I don't have any kids), because all it is is the animal rights agenda driven. Our first clue should be Alec Baldwin doing voice over work. I've never scene Whale Wars, but just imagine what it's like. We need to spread the word about their bias.

You are correct. It IS indoctrination, aimed especially at the kids who watch it, along with too many gullible adults. It's also a fund raiser. The system used to test dogs to see if they're acceptable candidates for adoption sets the dogs up to FAIL. I've only watched it 3 times & got so disgusted watching the last one (a year or more ago) I actually turned off my TV. Since when is putting a wooden "hand" on a six foot stick into the foodbowl of a friendly, playful dog that has been starved most of his life a valid "temperament test?" And have you noticed that when they haul off many of the animals, the ONLY problem at the location is that there may be a NUMBER of animals - and that's the justification frequently used for removing peoples' pets. What is really scary is the jackets that say "SPCA POLICE." Who stupidly gives them that title and authority?

There was a post a few months ago similar to this. The AKC routinely negotiates with Animal Planet and airs many of their conformation shows on there. I would certainly consider starting there. If you ever watch the AKC shows, you will also hear many of their commentators recite subjects very similar to what these extremists say. The beauty pageant folks are so **** excited that their charges and hobby is on TV that they are blind to the machine they are supporting. Maybe a letter writing campaign to the AKC would be a good start. Anyone want to volunteer some sample letters urging the AKC withdraw their support of Animal Planet?

Skyward, I don't know if that would do any good, writing AKC. They are so in bed with the animal rights group, it's pathetic and extremely hard to believe, since they want to put the AKC out of business. That's why I don't register with or hunt their hunts. I don't want my money going to someplace that associates with the animal right whack jobs. I can't think of his name, but the voice of the Westminster dog show is or was when I used to watch it, is very strong into the movement. I always that it was funny someone who didn't believe in pet ownership would support dog shows like that.

I'll never register an AKC litter, nor will I ever give AKC another show entry... $ is all they are about, and they won't change until they find themselves without many of us.

Furthermore, I think the AKC has been systematically crippling many breeds in order to show dogs to ignorant judges who have foolish notions of what a "show dog" should look, move, and stack like. Many of whom would not know a hunting, working, or hound dog if it bit em in the butt.

I have to agree with all of you. I can never flip through the channels and hit AP and have anything other then Texas, New York, or whatever humane society 'stealing' animals from someones house or yard, because they were 'abused'! Horse pucky! I've seen dogs that were supposedly 'starved', looking better then some of the hard hunted dogs put up on the bench in front of me. Sure the dog may be lean, but you can soon tell if the animal is skinny or all muscle, just by feeling it. This channel is a BS channel and we as PETA folks (People Eatting Tasty Animals) should start raising a stink over it. Lord knows, they raise enough stink over us!

I might have to disagree with you all on the "Animal Cops" Show. I've seen it a couple times, and every time they've taken an aniimal it was usually in some bad shape. Maybe I didn't see the same episode as you all did, but I saw one where there were some animals that looked like skeletons with skin still on, and others with dogs that were living in kennels piled with ****.

well all they show are the "police" removing the animals, I do not hear anything that has happened to the owners. the animals are not the ones at fault and they are being punished. I'm all about removing animals that are truely uncared for, etc - but to remove them "just because" you have 10 dogs, no. if the owners are prosecuted for cruelty, then they'll do it again. I've seen some of the shows where the collars have eaten inot the neck like wire in a tree. where was the owner punished? it was all about removing the dog and dogs shouldnt live like this - this is correct, but without correction of owners and the like it will happen again.
