A new thing out is saying that Listerine works and kills 'em, too. I'm going to give it a try. When it comes to bug spray (Central and South America taught me a little...) the higher the Deet content the better. I used Skin-So- Soft, but, it's very oily and dirt and crud sticks to it.

Do you carry the Theracell with you while hunting and light it while standing still?

most of the skeeter sprays that I have used seem to smother me. it seems alot hotter when you spray it on. anyone else have that problem? I generally use one of the repel sprays, fairly high deet content.

I don't like the feel of the spray either. I'm going hunting tonight and carry a Thermacell and see how that works. When you're walking you generally aren't bothered by mosquitos but when I stop I'll fire it up. I'll let you know tomorrow how it works.

Elvis,

There ain't gonna be NO SKEETERS here in Hoosierland this year. It's only been raining 4 days out of 7 for 2 months. No skeeters here at all. LOL

Come on Elvis, MAN UP, they gotta eat too. They don't bother me much, I must taste "gamey".

Here is what I found to work the best for me .

SKIN SO SOFT Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray !!!

Up to 8-hour protection against mosquitoes. • Provides strong and dependable repellency against mosquitoes, gnats, no-seeums, sand flies and biting midges.

What is Picaridin? Picaridin is an effective alternative ingredient to DEET. It has a low odor, with a light, clean feel. Picaridin, also known around the world as KBR3023, or Bayrepel (trademark of Bayer AG) was developed by Bayer. Picaridin has been used worldwide since 1998, and is one of the best selling active ingredients contained in insect repellent products in Europe. Our new Picaridin product is great for families to enjoy outdoor activities like walks, evening barbeques and jogging/running, etc. especially at dusk and/or dawn when sunscreen protection is not needed. May not be available in all 50 states.

price: $14.00 on sale for $6.99

anyone tried the Chlorophyll pills? Its a vitamin from the pigment that makes leaves green. A few of my buddies say they have never been bit while taking them. I'm getting ready to start on them picked up a bottle at GNC for 12 bucks.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever used them

I use deep woods off. HEAVY. It smells terrible, will make you choke when you apply it. But the skeeters don't bug me.

News Alert!!!! Carry your Thermacell with you. It only takes about 20 seconds for it to start working once you stop walking. Warning- it doesn't work well in the wind.

Elvis , the very best is the smaller squirt bottles of 99% Deet . It has no smell and is a jillion more times effective against ticks , skeeters and even keeps the no-see'ums of you . When you get home and strip down for the night you won't be scratching at those little itchy things you can't find.

The trick is you gotta get naked and rub it all over .... it may sound extreme , but staying beautiful and blemish free comes at a price.

I use the same stuff I use on my dogs. Its Xtreme Shield fly spray. Keeps skeeters, gnats, bees and all kinds of flies away even those nasty deer flies.

I spray it around the doors of the dog houses, on the dogs and around all my windows. I have the herbal formula...smells like citronella.

We use listerine every night during the hot months. This stuff works great. A Friend of mine had and old farmer tell him about it, he said they use it when they're out working the fields. Supposed to help keep ticks off too.

Cabelas sells "Bens insect repellent" 98% deet. I just spray my ankles and hat, my waist - no probs, even in the swamp.

Used the Listerine last nite. Worked good. It was a muggy mid 70's in the woods along the creek. Bugs liked the light, but, not the skin or clothes!!
