Feeder Buckets...Coons not eating much lately

My buckets havn't been getting hit with coons near as much in the last2 weeks...Strange thing is that I've been hunting near the buckets a lot less.....Anyone else have the same experience during summer months?

I put out

a feeder bucket about a week ago.Hit it for the first time last night. The dogs struck and treed right off the bat.Bucket was full (5 gal.)when I put it out.Pulled the lid off,and it was about 2/3rds full.

I can't keep mine full all 6 of mine are empty most of the time but it takes about a week to empty my 5 gal buckets when I do fill them, its just something about turning them and they go straight to the bucket and tree I mean its good for starting pups or I guess for hunts but anything else I prefer the chase when I'm pleasure hunting.

They'll always take natural food sources over feed buckets, right now..at least here they're eating frogs...and frog egg clusters. They'll be back to your feeder soon enough.

Buckets

There hitting my buckets regularly. I go thru 5 gallon of dog food a week in each bucket I have out. But in the last 2 years I've box trapped and cut loose over 180 coon in my area. I really dont even hunt my buckets much anymore. But there will be coon on them all hours of the day it seems like.

I've had my buckets out for about 3 weeks. I hunted around them once about 5 days after we put them out, and treed once near the one that I thought was in the best location. All of the buckets were still almost full of dog food. I've been out of town a lot for work since then, so I plan on hunting all weekend when I get back home. Hopefully they've been hitting them a little harder. I'm ready to find out!

Coons nearly quit eating out of my feeders when the black berries are out. If you have black berries in your area, that could be the problem.

I've noticed it goes in cycles...all winter you cant keep them full. When the spring peepers/ frogs/ frog egg clusters are around, they disappear for a few weeks...then they're back until the blueberries come out...then back until the beechnuts are here...then back until the acorns are dropping.

Went last night(80deg!!) and treed fairly close to a bucket. I never hunt right to the bucket, but just in the vicinity. I sometimes get a 1/2 mile chase and sometimes it's a 30 yarder. Kinda like huntin a corn field or chicken farm. WHats yalls experience? You normally get the same type chases whether near a feeder or not? It doesn't seem to make a diffeence with my dog, he's pretty hot nosed either way.

WHEN YOU PUT THE CANDY OUT ,THEY WILL BY PASS ANYTHING YOU HAVE OUT THERE NO MATTER WHAT, TO GET THAT CANDY,I HAVE USED RECORD RACK IN MY BUCKETS FOR OVER A YEAR NOW,I STILL DO, THERE IS NO OTHER FOOD OUT THERE IN MY BOOK THAT WILL BEAT IT,IT IS BERRY SCENTED. BUT WHEN I STARTED USEING THIS CANDY THEY WILL NOT TOUCH IT AS LONG AS THERES CANDY AROUND,
