what im talkin about, hope ms does it too. Im originaly from ok grew up there from the time i was born till i was 18, now that ive lived in so many other states since then i always think back to the ok poeple and how i always thought they all had good heads on their shoulders. hell most other states have about a 50/50 ratio of dumb butts to good folks oklahoma was more like a 99/1 ratio of good uns to bad uns. At least the north central part i grew up in.

OK, just sitting here thinking about what might be the outcome of all this and I have a few questions.
If all these states pull out, what laws will be upheld?
Like will we revert to the 1800s carring side arms and shooting on the street and say it was a fair fight?
Or will these stated adopt the same laws put in place by the goverment they no longer are under jurisdiction of?
They cant say this or that is illegal untill put into law by said state,
the laws in place were put there by the us federal goverment and if no longer part of the usa the us federal goverments would have no bearing on any actions done by individuals.
Would the men/woman in federal prisons be released due to the fact that they were put there by a goverment no longer reconized by said state?
under what system would criminals be tried?
any court in the country is a federal building and the judges are part of that same federal goverment said state no longer obeys and reconizes>
will said states redo their judicial system and appoint their own judges?
Will men./woman paying child support to exspouses be relieved of their child support obligations? Child support is set up by the same
goverment system said states are opposing?
This action of seperation from the us goverment in such a hasty decision will open up all kinds of door for criminals to ask and get appears for crimes commited.
And unless new laws are in place a FAIR jury would have to set alot of people free because the goverment in said state would have no laws against such crimes and thus not able to convict.
Said states would be subject to law suits of false imprisonment for holding prisonsers for crimes they have no laws against.

this post reminds me of a satirical email reieved

in my account recently:

Subject: Dear Red States

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington , California, New Mexico, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America 's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq , and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at
state dinners) 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high-tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was
involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

By the way, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

Peace out,
Blue States

the first time I saw reference to secession, I looked at the NC constitution. there is actually a section in our constitution that prohibits this

Article 1:
Sec. 4. Secession prohibited.
This State shall ever remain a member of the American Union; the people thereof are part of the
American nation; there is no right on the part of this State to secede; and all attempts, from whatever
source or upon whatever pretext, to dissolve this Union or to sever this Nation, shall be resisted with the
whole power of the State.

so it looks like NC will have to remain part of the Union unless this is overturned.

Taken from Hecklers source:

"Most are symbolic measures and none have passed yet, but local officials are hoping to send a message to Washington to back off."

Of course this story is 3 months old so who knows where it stands now.
