WV hunters CALL NOW

HB 3063 they have added to this bill to lower the legal weight on a bear down to 75lb live weight 50lb dressed.

call 1-877-565-3447 to oppose this bill

I'm not in WV but I have a "dumb" question. do you ask the bear to step on the scales before you kill him? isn't Mother Nature in charge of bear weights?

maybe I am missing something.

No you dont ask them to step on the scale.You learn how to judge the weight.If treed its fairly easy.And you dont just see black and shoot.The biggest part of the population(bear) that are in these weight ranges will be FIRST YEAR CUBS.With a lower number of 1 1/2 year old bear.Sometimes doing very poor mast conditions your will find older bear under a 100 lbs. A 50lb "dressed" weight is a 60lb live weight bear.

why would you want to kill cubs anyway? or is that the issue? its not giving the bear time to grow up.

YES thats the issue, whats even sadder it would appear the WV Bearhunters Asso has no problem with this
