I'v just had mine 2 weeks and the jury is still out on how well it will do with leaves on and how far the external antenna will reach. Most tell me that with the external antenna , they will reach almost as far as a standard tracker.. If thats holds true , AIN'T NO WAY I'M GOING BACK TO BEEP BEEP...

Love it. there are things to do to get more range than any tracker made. we tested them for a year against other tackers & i'll stick with Garmin from now on. I was very skeptical at first but would have no other now. some may not like there dogs as much if they mark when dogs locate & check a tree or they actually see their dogs hunting style. It is the most valuble tool a coonhunter can have in my opinion other than a dog .

Never, never, never going back.

The only downside is I had been putting off getting bifocals and finally had to do it when I couldn't read the Garmin screen anymore. What does that say about my commitment to the Garmin. With the old beep, beep I could've gotten by for another couple years.

i`ll say it to, i could NEVER hunt without my gps again. i like it when i`m running coon. during the winter when i`m running coyotes, it`s the greatest thing since gun powder. i know which way the hounds are circling the yote and makes it easier to get in front of them.

garmin trackers

The best thing since sliced bread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Right now I have three collars and what is neat is your con go from big numbers to small numbers and have the three dogs on one screen.Love them Garmins.Never going back to the other collars.I live in the mountains and it works good. Also have the carry along ant.and the external ant.for the truck.Went hunting one night and left a young female in the dog box left the truck at 9 p.m. and got back to the truck at 12:30 a.m.Used the dog in the box to get backto the truck because fog set in and we didnt know what direction we were going.Happy hunting and carry you extra batteries,Sam Kelly.

Love my Garmin

I have only had mine for a short time (3 months or so), but I love it. I have young dogs that I lay tracks with a drag for. It is a great tool to see if your young dogs are straddling the track, drifting or otherwise just goofing off in the woods. I have lost signal a couple of times, always at the worst time (e.g., when they are getting close to highways). I still think it is great to know where they are--either good places or bad places.

With the garmin I feel much more comfortable hunting spots that I wounldent otherwise want to hunt.

I used to not like hunting in wind, and would choose my spots accordingly, with the garmin wind isnt a factor.

Im sure the garmin has saved me many steps in the last year.

Having said that, I still carry my Maxima and continue to run a telemetry with the DC 20, but not with the DC 30.

So far, I have complete confidence in the DC 30...the 20, not so much....

I agree with Dwills,
Its like hunting with someone playing a gameboy.
Ya feel like your interupting by trying to carry on a conversation.

I sure do like the step saveing ability of it though. lol

I'm glad to hear that. I'm still using a DC20, but will probably soon get a DC30. I feel more comfortable with the DC20 being on the same collar as the Wildlife, for now.

Love my Garmin !!!!!!

Along with being able to track and find the dogs they are useful for other things as well. One night the dogs treed about a half mile from the truck. We went in and knocked the coon out. My son had his pup along and was messing with him with the dead coon for a couple minutes then we went back to the truck. When we got there we loaded the dogs and I looked at my boy and said "What did you do with the gun? Of course he said I thought you had it !!! I thought man thats gonna be like finding a needle in a hay stack then my boy said let me have the Garmin and I will back track to the tree with it. I said OK and off he went in about 15 minutes here he came with the gun. So you can not only keep track of the dogs you can keep track of the gun as well !!!

Jonah

A gun tracker/locator too?! LOL!

The very first coon I ever shot out of the tree with my very 1st dog.......I did the same thing. I was so excited that I left the gun back at the tree. It's the needle in the haystack....with the lights out at night. Luckly we were near a field and I use to hunt the woods alot in archery season. It still took a while.
