Bucket Hunting in Big UKC Events

Hunting buckets in competition is simply not right. Every cast will not be hunting buckets therefore it makes for an uneven playing field. The luck of the draw is not competition in my eyes. Its like having a fishing tournament with half the people fishing in barrels full of fish and the other half fishing in huge lakes. Its just not an even test of dogs. If UKC would go to cast wins only it would eliminate this problem.

The real test of a dog would be to turn loose in a wildlife management area that has been hunted to death, and see who comes up with some coons, competing with the other three dogs in the cast and not worried about how many points its going to take to win or what the other casts are doing.

Sure....you are absolutely right. So what? There is no solution so why go on about it forever? There is no possible way to police it. Casts hunt off feeders all the time an have no idea. Even without feeders, some spots are honey holes and some are dead holes. How fair is that? There are two other options for those that feel cast wins are the way to measure success. Don't expect UKC to make three.

i couldnt agree more jim, me and a buddy were out monday night and had 6 trees with 6 coons and the longest it took us to get struck in on any dump was maybe 30 seconds, with no feeders!

There are certain spots around, but in most of my places if you tree 6 in a full night of hunting you have had an AWESOME hunt.

You definitely cannot compare dog power by how many coons they tree a night. Its obvious that some places have a better population than others.

People hunting off feeder buckets is not a concern for me.... I don't do it, and can't see myself doing it though. 1. we have too many coons, anyone want any? 2. it's almost work

If you think that someone is going to beat you, because they are going to hunt off buckets, you better set yourself up some buckets and even out the playing field, and stop pointing fingers.

It's not against the rules, it hardly could be, how would they control it?
