Tough side of the tracks(LION)

It had snowed 2 nites before, and this lion moved during the storm that left us with 6 inches of new snow. Snowmobiled back to pickup and brought the A team back in to try the track. Dixie and Rocket moved the track very slowly for the 1st mile + into where the lion had a kill. There were mega tracks, and it took them awhile to figure out which track leaving the area had a cat in it. When they finally left the kill area, they were fogging it, only to get hung up on a cliff that the cat went out over. That hung them up for a bit, but they finally found a way around and down. There was not a visible way to get humans down over that we could see. The dogs could be heard treeing in the distance, so we snowmobiled back to the pickups and drove around where we could snowmobile up the canyon we thought they were in. They were not in the exact canyon we thought, but one over. It was about 500 yard up to where the cat was treed on the edge of a cliff with the dogs HAMMERING tread. Got up there in time to take some pics, give the dogs an attaboy, gather them up and head home. Turned loose at 11 am and reached the tree at 7;30 pm. Was a great LONG day with some great dog work. Happy Hunting!!!!

Our little hunting buddy(our youngest son) is 9 years old. Boy he is a trooper, but he was a little tired at the end of the day. This is his 22nd cat he has seen in the tree.

Thank-you
It is always amazing to see how a cat can make short order of a mule deer.
Thanks for looking........Happy Hunting...........has been a blizzard here all day, so hopefully we can get another cat in the tree before season ends.
