Sounds like you have a very independent young hound there. At only 11 months old, I would not worry to much just yet. As far as the track problem he just may need more time and experience to put everything together. I am not aware of any way to get them to run track with the older hounds but most will come around if you continue to hunt them. The coming off the tree can usually be corrected a number of ways. My first attempt would be to tie him at every tree he makes, and I would also tie him up close when the other dogs make a tree. This will make him realize that he needs to stay at the tree until YOU are ready for them to move on. After some time, if he continues to not want to tree with the older dogs, catch him up on your way to the tree and tie him up at that spot. This should make him realize that if he doesn't tree with them that he is not going to get any of the coon and should help with your problem. I would not let him have any more coons unless he/she trees them and sticks the tree until you get there. Both methods take time to work but if you are consistent you should see improvement.
