TRASHY Squirrel Dog!!!!!

Hunted my Dad's Cur Bobbie this morning.. Den tree den tree and more den trees, Then I heard her baying something and when I got to her found her on a coon. I'm not sure if its a coon someone knocked out last night or what. It was curled up but breathing when I got there. Since I wasnt sure what was wrong with it I shot it and got Bobbie away from it with out her chewing on it tooooo much.

Might have been sick. Guess it happens. You did the right thing...if a squirrel dog bayed it or any one dog most likely it was not going to live anyway.

Distemper

I was told by a conservation agent that alot of coon's found like that have distemper. Hope your dog has had it's shots.

Its not OFF game to Cur hunters... They shoot anything that their dog trees.

That cur dog

If that cur dog doesn't bark on track very much it might have snuck up on the coon and just caught it on the ground....that's another hypothesis.

She opens on track sometimes. The coon was curled up like it was sleeping. I saw her when she first saw it. I'm not sure what was up with the coon.

My Curs catch coon on the ground all of the time including in the daytime. So it is not unusal for a Cur to catch a coon on the ground. I have a video clip of a Cur and a Feist treeing a coon on a PKC Squirrel Hunt. When a dog catches or trees a coon in the daytime on a cast, a line is drawn through the score.

Hunting a good Cur on squirrels is fun isn't it Hobo?

She didn't CATCH it.. It was bawled up like it was asleep.

Actually I'd rather hunt a good Fiest on squirrels.
