Recasting scenario?

After a tree scoring situation. (+) points awarded. Dogs A and B are lead away from the tree.Dog C is declared treed and Dog D is trailing. The handler of Dog A opts to recast.Handler B opts not to.Dog A goes fifty yards ahead of the cast and slams a tree and is declared tree.Dog C's tree time has expired and the cast goes into score the tree. The handler of Dog B (opted not to recast) ties his dog and helps score tree. The tree is scored (+), Dogs B and C led away.Dog D is still out trailing. We have Dog A who was declared treed earlier, and his tree time has expired.
Here is where the ? arises.
For argument sake "Dog D" is holding 100 strike pts.
Two coon have been scored.
Rule (7) "NON-WORKING DOG:
If Dog is not working as part of cast and is holding first or second strike, etc.,all strike points will be open to other dogs after coons have been treed and seen in two seperate trees, or one hour of hunting time has elapsed.
Would it be appropiate to apply Rule 7 on Dog D and open up the strike points to the other dogs exercising the recast option ?

Allen G. I piggy back on you alittle hope you don't mind.

I agree with Maniac as long as no other dog is carrying strike points that ISN'T a non-working dog. Since dog A IS NOT a non-working dog, B and C cannot be struck in over dog A's strike position. I learned that much from Rip.

I understand that, I am saying though A is treed and you cut B and C before going to A's tree thus allowing them to strike over A. Even though hes not the one the rule is there for. I know if walked B & C to A's tree then it would open strikes back up but its the thing with cutting them before thus causing A to be penilized cause he isn't out competing for strike. Thats just my way of thinking.

I understand your thinking, and yes I agree with it.Dog A does not get what he deserves as far as strike pts. go,but unfortunately that is not the way the rules are written.
Maybe just maybe in the not to distance future with this recast option a new rule will emerge to read something like this
"After two coons have been scored on any other dog(s)strike points will be open up to other dog(s)."
JMO.

dog is tread

if its ukc you can not turn loose if a dog is declaired treed before you turn loose,. the tree has to be scored even though another dog is still on trail. than you turn loose. well that is if the rules have not been changed.

LOL......Chew, you are little behind the times. I'm sure you're not the only one.

I've only hunted in one event this year, number two is tonite. It didn't come up on the last hunt. Maybe tonite.

This is what gets me..If b opted to not recast to dog to start with..When does this option run out?? I dont think he should be able to recast before dog D is scored one way or the other or all dogs have been handled..

If a handler opts not to recast, that dog cannot be recasted again until the next time a dog is eligable to recast. Allen already clarified that.

If B and C are recast before dog A has his strike points scored then you can not strike back in above him. Jim is correct. A would be considered a working dog and you can't strike in above a working dog.

The recast-option is regenerated everytime a tree is SCORED, as long as a dog is trailing. That is what gets me,if the non-working dog rule is not appllicable you only go in for next avaiable.
We need more changes in the recast option as far as strike points are concerned.
THE NON-WORKING DOGS NEEDS SCRATCHING ,GET IT OUT OF THE WAY.
The Hustleing dog , needs to be rewarded on the strike point.
JMO.

I never thought of that before but now that you mention it, if those dogs tree two on mine while mine is wallering around, then yeah, mine needs to go to the truck. I could go for scratching the non-working dog.
