maybe a little more to buy, but get a rechargable one, the savings in batterries will be well worth the price of a rechargable one.

i ordered one from cabelas. it was $135.00 and came with a spare battery. the batteries last a long time. i have two dogs and both are bad at times. i don't leave it one either one of them for long but just long enough to get some piece and quiet. the batteries are $12.00 a pair, i think. lowes, the building supply store, sells one that looks like the one i have for less than $100.00.

I have had tri-tronics bark limiter and it worked very well. I like the fact that you could check the number of corrections given. What I didn't like was when it came battery changing time I broke one of the battery holding clips. It was out of warranty and I had someone solder it back on, but it did not hold, so that collar was useless. I currently have 2 of the pet safe deluxe bark collars. They were $89 at Tractor Supply which is a little cheaper than the Tri-Tronics. The performance is excellent and the battery is very simple to change. It actually screws in to the outside of the collar. Batteries come 2 to the pack for about $7 and last for about 6 months. It also has a test feature that I like. You turn the switch to test and talk into it and the light will flash if it is working correctly. What I don't like about it is the collar itself. The collar is very flimsy nylon with a plastic buckle. For old dogs it's ok. You can buckle it on them in about 2 seconds without worrying what hole you had it in the night before. However, I had a pup somehow get it off and chewed the nylon to pieces. I think I'm going to get a small rubber collar and drill a few holes and mount the shocker on it.

I have used the sport dog, the innotek and even the cheap ones from walmart. If the dog is smart or not stubborn you do not need to keep it on them long, then you can put one on with out batteries and still have the same effect. It is about conditioning. Try putting it on for an hour the first day, then take it off, then a couple more hours the second day and take it off, pretty soon your dog will learn that if they bark with this on they will get zapped and when you put it on with out batteries they still have the same conditioning and mind set that bark with this on and its zap.

I like the dogtra ys500. It is rechargeable, good quality, and has 7 settings. Between 3-4 is enough juice to get their attention, start out on 2, and never had to go more than 5.

I've used them all, and own just about every kind right now. The tri-tronics is really good, but my favorite is the Dogtra. They work great, are re-chargable, and hold a charge for a long, long time.
They are very durable, and easy to operate. There's not much difference in the price between T.T.& Dtra.

If I was going out tomorrow to buy new collars, based on my experience with them, they would all be Dogtras.

Question about bark collars. I bought one last spring because I had a idiot that wouldn't shut up. He was running and treeing in the spring with the old dogs. Needed to put a bark collar on him during the summer and after that I couldn't get a peep out of him unless he was in the kennel. Reminded me of a walker but anyone ever have this happen.

Just curious what everyone uses for bark collars. At the moment I got a Tri-Tronics Bark Limiter xs. Bark collars are nice to make sure the dogs aren't barking while your not home. When i'm around and ones barking bad I like using my shock collar, that way I can holler at them and if they still don't listen they can get some electricty.

demondog your lucky Angel don't bark much a fair bit of those Spice pups are barking fools in the kennel.
